Nikki Check
Candidate for Yavapai County Supervisor, District 3
Nikki Check is a lifelong resident of Yavapai County. After studying agriculture, she began a career in the Verde Valley wine industry as a laborer and moved into vineyard management while working for Merkin Vineyards. Nikki was the founding Director of the Southwest Wine Center at Yavapai College where she established a 2-year degree program, planted a 17-acre vineyard, led the charge to turn a racquetball court into a 3,000 case working winery, along with teaching viticulture courses. Nikki has a long history of public service and has volunteered on many boards including the Verde River Basin Partnership, the Verde Valley Wine Consortium, The Verde Valley Forum for Public Affairs, and Slow Food Prescott. She served as Mayor of Jerome before running for the state senate in 2016, a race she nearly won despite the district being predominantly Republican. Nikki has lived in the Verde Valley since 2008 and is a current resident of Jerome where she lives with her nine-year-old son Ryan.
